Unions are demanding a wage increase of 16 percent, or R900 across the board, including benefits.


Talks with employers have deadlocked and if the workers down tools — or in this case, weapons — over 500,000 security guards might be involved.


This would leave those who depend on them for security at home, work, and in public places, without protection.
