Authorities have taken six suspects into custody in connection with the unfortunate event.

Details of the Incident

The heart-wrenching incident transpired as the 24-year-old professional soccer player was fatally shot during a violent altercation at a petrol station in Honeydew, occurring precisely on Wednesday, April 3rd, around 8:30 PM.

Initial accounts suggest that Fleurs, seated in a red VW Golf 8 GTI, was awaiting service at the fueling station located on 14th Avenue. It was at this moment that he was confronted by two assailants, both wielding firearms.

These perpetrators, driving a white BMW 1 series, menacingly displayed their weapons, coercing Fleurs out of his vehicle before mercilessly firing a lethal shot, aiming at his upper body.

Luke Fleurs’ Passing

Despite immediate efforts to administer medical aid, Fleurs succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the nearest medical facility.

A specialized investigative team, led by Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, successfully tracked down the six suspects to Slovoville, Soweto, in the early hours of Wednesday, April 10th.

Although Fleurs’ vehicle was recovered on Monday, April 8th, it had been stripped of its valuables. Authorities suspect the apprehended individuals to be associated with a larger syndicate responsible for a series of carjackings in the Gauteng region, with further investigations underway to locate additional suspects.

Legal Proceedings

The six individuals taken into custody are scheduled to appear before the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Friday, April 12th, where legal proceedings will commence.
