AKA and Tibz Murder and Investigations

AKA, along with his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, was fatally shot outside Wish restaurant in Durban last year. While several suspects, including Muziwethemba Gwabeni, have been apprehended and charged in connection with the murder, Gcaba remains free from arrest.

According to a senior police investigator who preferred anonymity, despite discovering that Gcaba transferred a significant sum of money into Gwabeni’s account, there isn’t adequate evidence to implicate him directly in the crime. Allegedly, Gwabeni used these funds to compensate the assailants for their actions.

The investigation has revealed a network of collaboration among the seven accused individuals, evidenced by their shared involvement in other criminal activities and frequent communication through phone calls. However, the authorities currently lack sufficient grounds to detain Gcaba.

“The financial transactions and limited communication between Gcaba and Gwabeni do not meet the threshold for arrest or interrogation at this stage,” explained the police source.

When questioned about Gcaba’s absence among the other accused individuals in court, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority, declined to comment, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
