Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi will face trial in France following a rape allegation first raised in 2023.
Hakimi Responds to Charges
The Moroccan international confirmed the development in a post on X, where he strongly denied the accusation. “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false,” Hakimi wrote. “This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
Background to the Case
The Nanterre prosecutor’s office opened an investigation in 2023 after the allegation was made. On Tuesday, prosecutors confirmed that the case has now been referred to trial.
Football Commitments Continue
Despite the legal proceedings, Hakimi remains part of PSG’s squad. He was included in the team list published last week ahead of their Champions League knockout round playoff against Monaco, scheduled for Wednesday.
