Actor Vusi Thanda is said to have received R30,000 in donations.
After pleading with the public to assist him in repaying his R45 000 debt to his landlord, actor Vusi Thanda reportedly received R30 000 from Khokhova founder Sammy Mhaule of Kicks Footwear.
They held an event in his honor and raised R30,000.
“After much thought and discussion with Vusi Thanda, we decided it would be best for us to forego hosting an event.”

“We have agreed to hand over a cheque for R30,000 as our contribution to this legend,” said Sammy Mhaule, as quoted by the Sunday World.
“Although we would have loved to host the event as planned,” he explained, “this approach made more sense to everyone involved because the ultimate goal of this whole exercise was always to offer relief to uBaba.”

Vusi thanked the team for their help after initially being hesitant to accept it as he distanced himself from the situation.
“I am officially saying goodbye to poverty.”

“I don’t want to touch a penny of this money,” Thanda explained, “but rather invest it because that was a mistake I made in the past. I’ve learned my lesson and will never again misuse money. Thank you to the Kicks team for your support during this difficult time.”
