Kaizer Chiefs might just be nurturing the next big thing in football, and Europe’s elite are already paying attention.
At the heart of the buzz is 14-year-old Reatlegile “Rea” Mosimane, son of coaching legend Pitso Mosimane. Rea isn’t just living in the shadow of his famous father—he’s carving out his own path, one dazzling goal at a time. With a jaw-dropping 38 goals last season, he led Chiefs to the Gauteng Development League U13 title and scooped the top scorer honor.
Now, he’s earned a golden opportunity to prove his mettle with Italian giants AS Roma. The club has invited him for a trial, following in the footsteps of another South African prodigy, nine-year-old Ikenna Tladi, who recently signed a seven-year deal with Roma. Tladi’s left-foot magic caught the eyes of European scouts, and he’s now officially part of the Roman roster.
“Ikenna Tladi has officially signed for AS Roma,” confirmed agent Jorge Abong. “Reatlegile Mosimane impressed last month, and Roma are keen to have another look at him. We’ve also arranged pre-season invites for Shamir Mattera from SuperSport.”
As more scouts turn their gaze to South Africa’s fertile footballing grounds, it’s clear that talent like Mosimane and Tladi is no longer just local—it’s continental. Rome might have been built in a day for these rising stars.
