Kelly Khumalo’s legal case against her ex-boyfriend, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye, was dismissed by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) due to insufficient evidence. Khumalo accused Maarohanye of rape and attempted murder, but failed to provide medical records or police’s J88 form to support her claims.
Maarohanye’s lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi, argued that Khumalo’s allegations were a vindictive ploy, triggered by a podcast interview in which Maarohanye made controversial statements about her.

Baloyi claimed that the charges were an afterthought and lacked corroboration from medical reports or other evidence. The NPA ultimately decided to drop the charges, citing no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.
