Celebrities stay being bullied and criticised every second, and Shalate found herself being part of the statistics. Kgabang Sekhabi popularly known as Shalate Sekhabi, is a 22-year-old South African actress and model.

She is best known for the roles in the television soap opera as, The River, and House of Zwide. Shalate was a model and child actor, she began her arts career when she was only eleven years old, at the age of 14 she had her first two film debuts.

According to Shalate, this is something she had been hiding for a while. And this was her testimony in her own words.

“I never do this, but I really felt the need to share. Recently I had a conversation with somebody who told me that I should quit music/ modelling/acting etc. cause “it’s not going to work out for me, I’m not going to make it, I’m not cut out for it”.

“Not going to lie, at first I was really disheartened by the fact that a complete stranger, who knows nothing about me, my life or anything about the pain and tears it took to get to the person I am today, would tell me that I’m not good enough”.

“But then I remembered a conversation I had with my mom, she told me that I will meet people who genuinely just thrive at bringing others down, people who try to advise you in the name of “knowing what’s best” just so they can deter you from the greatness that they themselves know you are capable of”.

As Kgabang said above, the person was a stranger who knew nothing about her. So, as a result, this got to her head, and she really thought she was horrible, and people just couldn’t tell her.
