South African actress Terry Pheto faced massive backlash when people found out about the allegations that she was under investigation for fraud.
Terry Pheto has rubbished the rumours that she was involved in any fraud and cleared her name in the wake of the news.
Terry said that she is dismayed to learn that she is a subject of the Special Investigating Unit. She goes on to deny involvement in the fraud scheme that is being talked about or the people involved.
Pheto has informed the media that she did not see an application for a preservation order being reported. She says she respects the law and will transparently cooperate with the authorities in charge of the investigation. To finish her statement, Terry said that this is a difficult time for her. She thanked people who have supported her throughout the time.
The actress and eight other people were said to have frauded the commission, a total of R25 million. The team had lawyers, an accountant, a former commissioner and a CEO for a group of hotels.
The Special Investigating Unit, in charge of the investigation, is said to have seized properties belonging to the accused. This included cars, Ocean basket franchises, and properties which they said were purchased by the fraud money.
Fans are happy the actress has put out a statement and told her truth as they looked up to her. However, some still don’t believe her as they question how she funds her lifestyle, given that she is not landing as many roles as she did back in the day.
