A member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) attached to the Railway Rapid Response Unit in Pretoria was arrested for the alleged rape of a teenager in Soshanguve on Saturday, 8 October.
PRETORIA COP ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED RAPE
The Pretoria cop allegedly took the 15-year-old girl to various taverns in Soshanguve, North of Pretoria, “for a night of fun,” according to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
While the pair was on the way to the last tavern the victim reportedly passed out after drinking alcohol given to her by the suspect.
“When she regained consciousness, she found the officer busy raping her. After the ordeal, the suspect officer dropped her off near her home,” said IPID spokesperson Lizzy Suping.
In an unrelated incident in August, a 45-year-old detective attached to the Kei Mouth police station in the Eastern Cape was arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in his office at the station.
The victim stabbed the suspect in the arm with a broken bottle before escaping and reporting the incident to members in the nearby Community Service Centre.
