Actress Lungelo Mpangase, who plays Poppy in Lingashoni has joined Showmax’s telenovela The Wife as Sambulo’s new love interest Xoli.
PLAYING XOLI IN ‘THE WIFE’
The Lingashoni actress Lungelo Mpangase tells Sunday World that Sambulo is now more open, and expressive, and feels more like a man with Xoli in The Wife season three.
“Xoli is a very free-spirited person, she believes in her own rules and knows the power that she has. She’s not your typical submissive Zulu girl, but lives by her own rules and is very free sexually, hence she knows the power she has with her body,” said Mpangase.
Mpangase adds that her character relates with all the other wives in the telenovela… she’s not stuck up but is kind of a tomboy in a sexy way.
“The difference between Xoli and Lungelo is that I am a ‘girly girl’ and Xoli is brave and intelligent. Xoli does things that I don’t think I would even dream of doing, she’s brave and out there, meanwhile, Lungelo is an introvert.”
“If there was a bit of me there, I wasn’t going to be true to my performance, because I would have some doubts and ask myself if I’m doing the right thing. For me, that was one of the challenges that I have had with playing Xoli.”
LUNGELO MPANGASE IN ‘LINGASHONI’
The talented actress Lungelo Mpangase currently plays the character of Poppy in 1Magic’s telenovela Lingashoni.
Her character Poppy is a stripper, who falls pregnant with a rich businessman Robert, who is cheating on his wife Sarah with her.
The SSiTV November teasers reveal that Poppy will find out that she’s pregnant with Robert’s baby. He will insist she has an abortion and her family will advise her to keep the baby so they can get money out of him.
