Music producer Sello ‘Chicco’ Twala says if his son Longwe is guilty of murdering former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa then he must rot in jail.
Longwe was one of the people who were present when Meyiwa was allegedly shot in a botched armed robbery on 26 October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, Gauteng. His name has come up a number of times in the ongoing trial at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
MEYIWA TRIAL: CHICCO TWALA ON LONGWE
When the trial resumed on Monday, 14 November defence counsel for accused 1 – 4 Timothy Thobane read one of the statements deposed by State witness and Meyiwa’s close friend Tumelo Madlala which suggested that Longwe pulled the trigger.
“I was for the first time to see Longwe Twala and I did not tell anyone or the Meyiwa family that Senzo was killed by Longwe Twala because he did not have a firearm with him instead he ran away,” the statement read.
On Tuesday, 15 November Thobane maintained that there were no intruders in the house when Meyiwa was shot. He said a fight broke out in the house after Longwe arrived because he wasn’t happy that Meyiwa was in a relationship with both Zandie and Kelly.
Madlala admitted that a fight did break out however it was after the alleged intruders entered the house.
In an interview with Newzroom Afrika Chicco said if his son is guilty then he must rot in jail.
“My son’s enemies cannot be my enemy and if my son wrongs people, he must suffer the consequences,” he said.
“If my son is implicated and is responsible for Senzo’s death he must go and rot in jail,” he added.
In another interview earlier this year, Chicco vowed that he will not protect Longwe.
“My son, Kelly Khumalo and the others who were present know the truth. Someone cannot be shot in their presence and they are all silent about it. They know who killed Senzo; my son knows, Kelly knows and everyone else who was there knows.
“I must be excluded, I was not there and I am not part of it. I have said it before as well that I am not going to protect my son; if he is the murderer trust me I will come out in support of all the people who want the perpetrators to be jailed. I will never protect him.”
