A man was bitten by a 2.1 Meter Black Mamba in Hazelmere, KwaZulu-Natal, leading to a swift response from RUSA paramedics after a distress call was made at around 6:41 AM.

The victim was located behind the Hazelmere Dam wall, where he reported that he had been praying near a river when the snake struck his left foot. He identified the snake as a Black Mamba, one of Africa’s most venomous species.

After the bite, the man exhibited signs of neurotoxic poisoning, including significant swelling, but was able to walk a short distance to seek help. Security personnel in the area assisted him and quickly contacted RUSA for emergency medical aid.

Upon arrival, the paramedics provided symptomatic treatment to stabilize the victim before transporting him to a medical facility for urgent care.

Black Mamba bites are particularly dangerous due to the fast-acting venom that can result in paralysis or respiratory failure if not treated promptly. Authorities have emphasized the importance of being cautious in areas where snakes may be present and to seek immediate professional assistance if encountering venomous reptiles.
