Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final has reignited belief at the club after a painful 10-year trophy drought. The win not only delivered silverware but also restored pride and spirit within the squad.

It was a fiercely contested Soweto Derby, and Chiefs showed resilience to come out on top. The triumph has lifted the mood around Naturena, giving fans hope that the glory days may be on their way back.

Bobby Motaung praised the players for their fighting spirit and togetherness throughout the campaign.

He expressed pride in how the squad stuck together despite a tough league season. Motaung also mentioned the importance of this win as Chiefs prepare for continental football in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“I thank this team, and the generation that we have got, who have fought hard. For me, it’s team spirit and togetherness under a tight ship. This is a young team. We are still going to beef up. Obviously, we are going to Africa now,” said Bobby Motaung as reported by FarPost.

“But what is important is the journey that we have travelled. The types of injuries we have had, and the pressure these boys have been under. I think they deserve the trophy and the happiness.”

Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has confirmed that head coach Nasreddine Nabi will remain with the club for another season.

The club views continuity as key to sustained success and believes in the Tunisian tactician’s long-term vision.

Nabi himself acknowledged that the cup victory has bought him time to fully implement his project at Naturena.

He believes this success will serve as the foundation to build something greater. Chiefs now want to align their recruitment and development strategies to support the coach’s philosophy.
