Mzansi media personality, Somizi Mhlongo is one of the most famous entertainers in South Africa whose name is known and his work is appreciated beyond the borders of Mzansi.

While most details of Somizi’s life are often laid out in the air it appears that the gifted choreographer can keep a secret, one such secret being the existence of his sister.
Here is everything you didn’t know about Somizi Mhlongo’s sister:

Somizi Mhlongo’s sister was the late Joyce Twala. Unlike Somizi who is a popular personality both in South Africa and abroad, Somizi Mhlongo’s sister was a very private person and most people only came to know about her after she passed on.
Somizi’s sister- Joyce Twala passed on in October 2021, the cause of her demise was not revealed by Somizi and the family. A week after his older sister was laid to rest, Somizi took to Instagram to break the news that they had laid his sister to rest the week before.

“Last Friday we bid farewell to my mom’s first born….my sister. She was a very private person and her wish was that her send-off should be just that. And we made sure that we grant her that. It was a peaceful dignified send-off.” wrote Somizi.

He also went to thank all the service providers who had come through to make his sister’s send-off a success.

Somizi Mhlongo’s sister is survived by a daughter called Phumzile and reportedly three great-grandchildren- Lwanz, Lenhle, and Lesedi.

This is according to the eulogy of Somizi Mhlongo’s mother-Mary Twala.
